As the great Andy Warhol once said “If one human is touched by your art, then it’s almost certain that many thousands of humans will also be touched by your art……..all you have to do is reach them.”

Three years ago today we released our first EP and seconds after midnight on that day our band email started “pinging” as the orders came in. At one point it was like a “pinging” mini-symphony!

So the point of this email is dear, departed Andy’s words above. We know that quite a lot of humans enjoy our music so it’s almost certain that a lot more will too….all we have to do is reach them.

And that’s where you guys come in!

Anyone trying to buy tickets today for our special hometown gig at Yellow Arch Studios in Sheffield tomorrow will have noticed that ticket site WeGotTickets is intermittently unavailable.

Anyone recognise the wall?!

This week we play the “homest” of hometown gigs at the venue that was the first of everything for The Magpie Arc…..the first place we all met, the first place we fired up the electricity and switched on the buzzy amps, the first place we thrashed the first song into shape, the studio we first recorded our first three EP’s, the first place we all set off from to go to Doncaster for our first gig etc. etc.

And now for the first time we are playing there live!

Tomorrow, Wednesday the 16th of August in fact, and it will be a very, very special night for us, so if you can possibly make it along to help celebrate we would love to see you at our beloved Yellow Arch Studios in Sheffield for music and beers.

Due to unforeseen circumstances we are having to postpone our gig at The Musician in Leicester on Thursday the 17th of August.

The founder of the Folk on Foot podcast and all round huge supporter of folk music and musicians, Matthew Bannister, is undertaking a fundraising walk in aid of the 100 year-old Help Musicians charity from the Wickham Music Festival starting on the 4th of August and finishing at the FolkEast Festival on the 18th of August, where we’re playing at night.

To support Matthew we are donating a share of all our online music sales between now and the 18th of August to his fundraiser, so if you have any need to fill your The Magpie Arc collection then now would be a really good time to do that.

100% of the proceeds from our “pay what you want” download single of Robert Burns Ae Fond Kiss will go to the cause as will 25% of ALL our online download, CD and vinyl sales of Glamour In the Grey and The First Three EPs.

We are finally releasing our latest album Glamour In the Grey on all streaming platforms on Friday the 7th of July but in advance of that the third single from it is released to Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music etc. today.

Jack Frost is our wonderfully wintry version of the classic Mike Waterson song and is sung by Martin Simpson. We filmed this video in what seemed like an Arctic temperature in a studio in Sheffield in January and oh for a quick blast of that just now!
